MUSIC MART

So it's July already ... I hope all is well with your life. I've been writing and recording, and we've been playing shows here in San Diego and in Los Angeles.

The photos that you see here are from Music Mart (you can tell by the guitars in the background) and Lestat's, both great venues in the San Diego area. Larry Dent is backing me on drums.

I hope to get some more photos up soon, as well as some new music for you to listen to.

And if you're in Southern California, stay tuned, because we'll be playing several more shows in the near future.

And I'm working very hard on the album ...

Let's see ... I've been reading "Wild Years"--a biography of Tom Waits. Tom ranks right up there as one of the artists I respect and love the most. Just listening to him makes me happy.

Stevie Wonder does that to me, too. Some songwriters are strong with melody, and some with rhythm, but Stevie does it all better than practically anybody.

I think the best artists of all kinds, including writers, notice things, and people, and experiences, and then describe or show them in such a way that the audience says, "Yeah, that's exactly it. And I didn't even realize it until you expressed it like that." And there's some kind of joy in that discovery. It lifts us up, no matter where in this world we are living or what we are going through.

Until next time--don't be too safe,

Cheryl
